This Edinburgh food walking tour starts 10am finishing around 1pm visiting the lower half of the Royal Mile known as the Canongate.
On this food tour you will meet local people who enthuse about Scottish food & drink and taste their wares. Enjoy the cities eccentric side as well as learn how the old buildings are being melded with the new as this part of Edinburgh continues to reinvent itself.
The food tour stops at a number of shops and bars on the lower half of the Royal Mile. The local guide will talk about the history of the area as you walk between venues.
You will have the opportunity to taste locally sourced Scottish smoked salmon, venison, oatcakes, chutneys, cheeses, haggis, craft gin and shortbread to name but a few. You will also see the making of delicious fudge with an obligatory tasting of course.
A couple of other highlights are a tasting of Scottish whisky paired with chocolate and a Scottish beer and cheese tasting in what was Edinburgh’s main brewing district.
No need to worry about lunch after the tour is finished.
Audio headsets are provided. Enabling you to walk at your own pace but still hear what the guide has to say. The local guide will talk about the history of the area and point other places to visit once the tour is over.
A map will be handed out at the end of the tour showing venues visited. This also displays offers/discount should you wish to return to buy anything.
