Edinburgh Food & Drink Walking Tours

Discover Edinburgh’s food culture and history with Eat Walk Edinburgh, the original Edinburgh food walking tour.

Eat Walk Edinburgh tours are all about local sourcing. The company is based in Edinburgh, our guides are local and our tours showcase locally sourced, Scottish food and drink.

We live in a beautiful city with a fantastic array of restaurants and bars which we love to share.

Get a taste for Edinburgh’s vibrant food and drink scene with our two guided food tours.

Edinburgh Old and New Town Food Tour

Below is information on the Edinburgh Old and New Town food tour.

The three-and-a-half hour Edinburgh food tour explores both the medieval Old Town of Scotland’s capital and its elegant Georgian New Town. Don’t be put off by the name New Town, yes the Old Town does date back in part to the 1100’s but the New Town dates back to the 1700’s so is worth a visit.

There are five food stops en route, three of them also have a drink tasting.

All of the stops have been carefully chosen not only to highlight Scotland’s iconic food and drink but also because many of the venues are much loved by local residents. This Edinburgh food tour takes you off the tourist trail.

As well as delving deep into Scotland’s natural larder, the Old and New Town food tour illustrates Edinburgh’s past and present; its history and the day-to-day reality of 21st century living in such a historical city.

Guests will be given audio headsets so they can listen live to the guide as they walk at their own pace or stop to take photos.

Our daily Edinburgh food tours are limited to eight people.

The same experience is bookable as a private tour.

The Edinburgh Old & New Town food tour takes place Monday to Saturday at 1pm and Monday to Thursday at 5pm.

The Royal Mile Food Tour

Eat Walk Edinburgh also offers a mid-morning Royal Mile food tour. This takes place the lower half of the Royal Mile called the Canongate.

This Edinburgh food tour stops at a mix of eateries, bars, and shops.

Visiting local shops provides the opportunity to meet local shopkeepers, who love to chat about their produce and have some tasty samples to try.

Weaving between venues, the Royal Mile food tour visits some of the (intriguing) nooks and crannies that are a feature of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town. The guide will explain the local history and stories of these lesser known sights
